AKT Covid-19 Risk Assessment / Policy

Arrival and Departure

  • Parents/guardians and children to wait outside the venue to be let in one at a time by the director and if arriving at the same time to queue at a 2m distance apart.
  • No parents/guardians to be allowed into the venue at drop off and pickup times.
  • No parents/guardians/ non students are unable to use our onsite facilities at this time.
  • Although we have extended the group changeover times, we request that parents/guardians must ensure they are on time to collect children, as we are unable to safely accommodate them (unless previously agreed upon with staff).
  • All children must use hand sanitizer provided on arrival and departure.
  • Temperatures will be taken on arrival and throughout the day, if any symptoms become apparent. If the temperature of the child is over 38.2 degrees, then the child will not be allowed into the venue and should be taken home to self-isolate.
  • Parents are discouraged from gathering together outside the building(s), to minimise the adult to adult contact.
Personal Possessions

  • No sharing of any personal possessions, including bags, clothing, scripts or writing material or tools.
  • Personal responsibility for moving and collecting any personal possessions.
  • All personal possessions to be clearly named.
  • All children to bring their own writing utensils and notebooks if requested.
Food and Drink

  • No food or drink to be shared at any time.
  • All lunchboxes and water bottles to be clearly named.
  • Any discarded or unused food and drink to be taken home or thrown away by the individual.
  • Our water cooler will not be available to minimise risk so children should bring in their own water bottles.
Venue Cleanliness and Safety

  • Should you need to sneeze or cough please use tissues or the crook of your elbow. Using the principle of Catch it – Bin it – Kill it the tissue should be put into a bin and you should then wash your hands. Hand to face contact should be avoided.
  • We have increased cleaning of frequently touched surfaces, toilets and washrooms and this will happen between classes.
  • Minimising contact and mixing between groups of children by altering the environment to allow for social distancing between children and keeping children in small consistent ‘bubbles’.
  • Windows and doors in studios and classrooms will remain open, and fans on, where possible, to provide adequate ventilation and further reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Numbers of Children

  • As per government guidelines, groups kept at a maximum of 15 children aged under16.
  • Groups of children to be kept in their own bubble and not to mix with other groups.
  • Teachers / other staff members encouraged to maintain social distancing at all times and to wear face shields.
Symptoms of COVID-19

  • If one child displays symptoms of COVID-19 then they will be isolated from the group immediately and a parent called to collect them.
  • A child displaying symptoms will not be able to return to the group until they have had a COVID-19 test returned as negative.
  • If more than one child displays symptoms then the whole group will be asked to isolate.

  • Although live performances are currently permitted, due to high audience volumes we will not be doing an end of term show. We are currently looking at ways to film or possibly livestream for future terms in the event the COVID-19 persists. Use of toilets
  • Separate Toilets will be made available for each group of 15 children and will not be used by other members of the public, adults or other groups of children.
  • We have increased the deep cleaning rota for our Studios to twice daily.

  • All staff members to have read and been trained in the above control measures.
  • All staff members to adhere to all control measures and to remind groups of safety measures at regular intervals.
  • All staff members are professional practitioners with many years of experience working with children in difficult and sometimes stressful environments.
  • If a staff member displays symptoms of the virus then they will isolate for 14 days and a new member of staff will replace them.
  • Number of staff members to be reduced to a child safeguarding minimal level.
