ATCL Two Year Diploma in Acting & One Year Foundation in Acting
There are two ways to apply for a place on Diploma or Foundation.
Route One: The Workshop
Take part in a Two Week Workshop and attend a feedback meeting after the workshop. If your feedback is positive and supports your application we will either offer you a place on Foundation or an audition for Diploma. This route allows potential candidates to see the school, work in the spaces, take classes, meet and work with some of the teaching team. It allows us to see how they work with others in a group environment and in a range of disciplines.
Route Two: Audition
Candidates apply for an audition and prepare two monologues for Diploma or one for Foundation. We would prefer that students audition in person, but we will audition students who are based abroad or cannot travel to Brighton via Zoom.
Ideally Diploma candidates will do both the Workshop and an Audition as this gives them a realistic experience of what training with us is like. The Workshop fee is £150 and the Audition fee is £25. Candidates invited to audition from the workshop do not need to pay the audition fee.
short courses
ACT short courses can be booked directly via the website.
entry requirements
Applicants must be over 18 years old for Diploma. We will accept students 16-18 on Foundation with written parental approval. Previous drama experience is of course useful but not necessary and there is no upper age limit.
Applications from speakers of English as a second language are welcome but please note that all of ACT's courses are taught in English and are practical and active. We recommend an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall band of 6.0 or if below this extensive previous drama or theatre experience.
