We are currently awaiting a decision from DoE to see if our students can apply for the Advanced Learner Loans, the COVID crisis has delayed this process. Although we have entered the process to bid for eligibility, we are currently not expecting our students to be able to access a government backed student loan as yet.
We have contacted a number of funding providers, and will update this page as soon as we know more. If you'd like to be alerted when we know more about funding options for student loans, or want to discuss your options and ideas for funding the course, please email our finance office on finance@actbrighton.org..
As many of our students work as well as study, they may be able to apply for a personal loan to cover fees, if this is an affordable option for them. We recommend you try the eligibility calculators on Money Saving Expert, as these will not affect your credit rating, or you can look at Personal Loans on Compare The Market. A personal loan like this would be a good option for our students, if they can afford to pay loan instalments by continuing to work as the course is running.
You may be able to get grant funding to cover the costs of your study at ACT, although it is worth noting that local authority grants are very rare. It is more common to gain contributions from charitable trusts. It is necessary to do your own research for this, since your eligibility for a particular charity may depend on your region, background, gender, religion, ethnicity, disability, single parent status and so on – there are many funds with specific eligibilities which service students from those groups or communities. There is a publication called 'The Guide to Grants for Individuals in Need' which can be obtained from the Citizens' Advice Bureau
