An Introduction to Playwriting : Staged Readings

  • Lantern Theatre 77 Saint James's Street Brighton, England, BN2 1PA United Kingdom (map)

Three new playwrights,  Annie Sheppard, Richard Marris and Tig Savage, present new writing developed on ACT's Introduction to Playwriting course. This is a rehearsed reading with professional actors bringing these new scripts to the stage for the first time.

SH!TSHOW by Richard Marris
'Fear and loathing in 1970's Yorkshire. Reflections on an unnecessarily crap childhood amidst class warfare and domestic disharmony.

EVERY WRONG DIRECTION by Tig Savage
Sharon is looking for the father she’s never known -  in bars, bottles and the beds of unsuitable men. This play ought to be depressing instead of which it’s an hilarious mess. Like Sharon.

DEATH TAKES HIM HOME by Annie Sheppard
In 1680 Death claims Thomas, a village blacksmith. As his neighbours come together to remember his life,  Death lingers, he is intrigued, ‘I love a good funeral I do!’ With new insights and provocative questions, will Thomas’s reputation as a hero live on ?
